Writing Assignment #2

Our first writing group was a great success. Although we were disappointed that P couldn’t join us due to a late meeting far away, it allowed D, H and I a little time to ease our way into sharing our stories with each other. As the “founding members” of the group, we definitely found a connection to each other and our purpose for writing.  For H, it was a catharsis, for D, it was a shaking off of the cobwebs, and for me, it was being able to use writing to entertain. This was particularly relevant because H and D chose to write very emotional and dark stories, respectively.

Now we’re on to assignment #2. Because I’m going to be in Italy for my honeymoon on the date we would have originally met, we’re pushing our meeting up to the 12th, giving us only 2 weeks to create our next story.  Continuing our theme of finding inspiration from what has already been created, the assignment will again allow us to react to something.

Write a short story, no more than 8-12 pages long, based on the image in a found photograph. The photo cannot be yours, or connected to you in any way.
